FILM & RADIO
I have had some exciting experiences being featured on various TV, Radio programmes and podcasts discussing the humanitarian crisis situation, my research and training experiences. I have been a guest on Women’s Hour-BBC radio 4, BBC-Radio 1 & 2 as well as interviewed live by AlJazeera International.
Aala El-Khani: How Do You Help Kids Cope With Trauma?
I was interviewed for TED Radio Hour, an NPR podcast, which is the most downloaded podcast in the USA.
About My TED Talk:
“Children in war zones experience unimaginable hardship, says Dr. Aala El-Khani. She says parents must play a major role in helping children survive — even thrive — in the wake of trauma.”
A short film (Departing:Arrivals):
A short film (Departing:Arrivals) produced and made by UK film maker Hafsah Naib in collaboration with myself and colleagues (Professor Rachel Calam and Dr Kim Cartwright) at the parenting and Families Research Group at the University of Manchester.
This film is told through the eyes of mothers and fathers and explores the incredible will and commitment resettled Syrian refugees in Manchester (UK) show to protect, engage and raise their children after experiencing war, loss of loved ones and displacement.
